FAQs

Q ; How Long take time to make Artworks?

A ; Katazome and Bingata’s Artworks are total process for taking time two or three month. I could use same stencil again, but Katazome is three weeks, Bingata is for one month to make them again. Shibori is one month.

Q ; Do you cut the stencils by Hand?

A ; YES!
I cut all my stencils by Hand. My stencil’s unique is most free hand cut. I really enjoy to make the stencil and all my process.

Q ; How to Hang a Katazome’s Artwork?

A ; Some people put on the frame or String cross to Wood branch and clips to hang a Katazome Artwork.

My husband makes my display Branches,
Here is from him :

~ Kazue’s art display branches look simple, but much design has gone into their creation. On close inspection you will see that the rope hanger is not tied to the branch, but instead the rope passes through holes drilled in the branch and is then knotted into place. The rope is then tied with clips below the branch that attach to the art. Kazue’s display branches sell for $30. ~ If you wish to use your own branch and rope, you will do well! Here is my recommendation on how to attach the rope, branch, and cloth art piece together so that it becomes a single hanging piece (in addition to these elements, you will need two safety pins).

~ Attach the rope to the branch on each side using a square knot. The square knot is relatively easy to master, elegant, and strong. Done carefully, it will come away from the branch, above and below it, in a vertical line. The lower portion of the rope, which is where you will attach the art, should make a tail down from the branch about two inches long. Lay the art onto the rope tails as you will like it to hang. On each rope tail use one safety pin. The safety pin’s needle point should pass through the rope tail from behind, nip though 1/4 inch of the cloth art’s surface, and then pass back through the rope before securing the needle point closed with the clip of the safety pin. Make sure  the nip through the art’s surface is approximately 1/2 inch in from the the cloth’s edge, so the weave is strong and does not come unraveled.
